Good to know about infant car seats

This is the first car seat you will be using with your baby. The infant car seat is allowed to use only rear-facing and it can be attached to the car by 3-point safety belts or with Isofix Base. NordBaby shop always recommends using Isofix Base because it is safer, easier and quicker.
Infant car seats have 2 regulations which both are allowed in the EU: 1. ECE R44/04 regulation divides car seats by child's weight among other things; 2. i-Size ECE R129/01 regulation which divides car seats by child's height among other things.
By weight infant car seats belong to Group 0+ which is 0-13kg and by height, infant car seats are for babies 45-87 cm tall. Regarding functions, all the new infant car seats like Cybex Cloud Z and Joie i-Level have a reclining backrest or in other words, a sleeping position when a car seat is outside of the vehicle. This smart function lets the baby stay longer in the infant car seat and enjoy a comfortable sleep.
The majority of the new car seats also have a Side Impact Protection system which reduces side impact forces up to 30% during a crash.
Infant car seats can be used as travel systems in combination with strollers or buggies by using an adapter which usually is included with a stroller of a buggy. A travel system means that you can attach an infant car seat on your stroller/buggy frame and use it to take care of everyday business like going to the doctor or going shopping.
